North American Technician Excellence
How important is it for you to feel confident and trust your heating and cooling company? Have you heard horror stories of inexperienced heating and cooling companies, making costly mistakes only to charge you more? Wouldn’t it help if there was a certification process, a training program for technicians? Eighty-seven percent of consumers want a dependable skilled technician to service their home comfort system. The simple solution is NATE. North American Technician Excellence Inc. is an independent, third-party certification group for HVAC/R technicians. It is the nation's largest non-profit certification organization for heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration technicians. Some certifications merely train technicians. NATE tests technicians.
Candidates must earn installation and service certification in five areas: air conditioning, air distribution, heat pumps, gas heating, and oil heating. A NATE-certified technician is better trained, more prepared and can easily prove their breadth of knowledge.
NATE is supported by manufacturers, wholesalers, utilities, educators, technicians, contractors, and trade associations. Under the Montgomery GI Bill, the Department of Veteran's Affairs (VA) reimburses veterans who take the NATE tests. The U.S. Army recognizes NATE certification for promotion points. There is no other certification exam that has such widely accepted industry support.
FLAME Furnace technicians are all NATE certified and spend over 40 hours every year learning the latest techniques and equipment. For the initial certification, a technician must pass two exams: Core and Specialty. The Core test covers basic math, customer relations, fundamentals of electricity and heat transfer, and customer comfort. Specialty test topics include core system components, applied knowledge, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and service/installation topics.
The NATE test is extremely challenging, as only 66%-68% pass. FLAME Furnace technicians prepare for this certification by studying and reviewing textbooks, or taking preparation courses. FLAME Furnace supports the certification as certified technicians remain in the industry longer and do the job right the first time, which makes for very satisfied consumers. In fact, we currently support over 200,000 residential and commercial customers who have been with us for an average of 12 years!
We are proud that all of our technicians offer consumers knowledgeable service on their heating and cooling systems. Consumers have learned that technicians wearing the NATE logo know heating and cooling systems. NATE-certified technicians carry a wallet card to prove it-all FLAME Furnace technicians proudly carry this card. Remember, you can only rely on NATE-certified technicians for quality and dependable. You can rely on FLAME Furnace.
