Are all furnaces & air conditioners the same? Take a closer look at two of the most popular manufacturers today; Bryant & Lennox.
Gas Furnace Efficiency – The Bryant model 355B is the world’s most energy efficient gas furnace considering gas and electrical consumption combined. Bryant uses a patented clam-shell type, polypropylene lined secondary heat exchanger on its condensing gas furnaces, whereas all other manufacturers use a fin-tube design. Bryant’s design is less restrictive to airflow resulting in lower pressure drop and significantly greater electrical efficiency, a benefit that is realized in heating, cooling and continuous fan operation.

Many people who are venturing through a heating/cooling investment wonder what the advantages are between different manufacturers. Some contractors will tell you that all of the products are the same, and that it’s all about the installation. Well, there is a reason that Flame has been the largest Bryant dealer in Michigan; Bryant systems deliver quality, reliability and longevity.
Flame Furnace offers a dynamic package to Southeastern Michigan. Not only do we offer outstanding customer service, installation and maintenance, but we have a solid product that contributes to our quality reputation.

What are your initial thoughts? You might say, “Well, it de-humidifes…no, wait, it humidifies the air when, um, it gets the, um, lack of humidity, with the water, and, the pad thing, well, mine is broken, and we don’t really need one, so, yeah.” Can you answer what it does and why? Hopfully this helps.
Humidification is often necessary in colder climates, or in the winter, where continuous heating will make the air drier, resulting in uncomfortable air quality and increased static electricity.
Anatomy of a humidifier
The most common humidifier, an “evaporative” or “wick humidifier”, consists of just a few basic parts: a reservoir, wick and fan.

People entertaining the idea of doing business with Flame Furnace always have the same initial question, “Why is Flame so expensive?” My counter question may look something like this, “Well, who or what are you comparing us to?” The prospective customer ventures on to tell me how they’ve gathered three other estimates and Flame is leaps and bounds higher in the dollar category.
As a new sales person with Flame (as of July 2007), my experience has been that the customers who are re-newing their business with Flame have questions like, “How soon can I get the energy efficient furnace installed,” or they might say, “Let me grab the check-book, and by the way, my two neighbors also need a new air conditioner.” The reason I tell you this is because people who have done business with Flame understand the value of our top rate service. I encourage anyone to dialogue with a past customer of Flame who switched to another company for a less expensive investment. What diffrences did they notice with their new company in comparison to Flame?
I recently visited a homeowner who had been a Flame customer in the past but with their last furnace investment, they decided go with another company. The only detail I want to note is this…we are installing a new 92% effecient furnace in their home this week.
Ok, I’m done with the sales pitch. Let’s take a look at the facts… Read the rest of this entry »

Home Heating and Cooling 101
Heating and cooling are two of the most important concepts of home ownership. In fact, heating and cooling systems are major factors for those looking to purchase homes, and are a critical aspect of comfortable indoor living.
You may frequently hear the term “HVAC,” which is used to describe home heating and cooling systems. The acronym stands for Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning—which are the 3 primary functions of a home system. They control air temperature and humidity, and maintain the quality of the air in the home.
