The Heat Won’t Turn On-Why?

When it gets cold, we want our heat on instantly! Unfortunately, every so often, that doesn’t work, and the furnace won’t turn on. If this happens to you, follow these steps to try and solve the problem on your own.

Step 1: Head to the thermostat. Make sure the thermostat is on, working properly and set to “HEAT.” Setting a thermostat to “HEAT” usually just involves flipping a switch or pressing a button. Also, try and find the wires that connect the thermostat to the furnace and see if they appear to be in good shape. If not, your best bet is to contact a heating and cooling company.

Step 2: Check the Pilot Light. If you discover that the pilot light is out, there’s your problem. You can usually find instructions for how to light it on or around the furnace, or you can call a professional company, such as FLAME, for help.

Step 3: Find the Electrical Panel. At the electrical panel look for the furnace’s breaker. It is important that the breaker is on and electricity is flowing to the furnace.

If you are still cold and having problems? Do not hesitate to contact FLAME!
