According to the U.S. Department of Energy the average duct system loses 25 to 40 percent of the heating or cooling energy put out by the central furnace, heat pump, or air conditioner. This energy loss comes from gaps and holes in the duct system that leak conditioned air (warm or cool air that has been paid for!) to unwanted areas. Along with duct leaks, a home may let outside air in through openings in attics, garages, and windows.
The goal of E3 is to identify these and other energy wasting areas and suggest corrections. A specially-trained Comfort and Indoor Air Quality Consultant will visit your home and (using advanced diagnostic instruments and testing procedures) will identify the home's specific problems and provide the homeowner with a personalized plan to solve these obstacles, permanently.
Correcting air leakage into and out of your home can potentially create benefits beyond energy conservation and lower utility bills. A tight home could mean even heating and cooling, less dust, and relief from allergies.
